Christopher Howard, the “go-to
guy” for Retirement in Costa
Rica
Christopher Howard has lived and
worked in Costa Rica for more than
30 years and is a citizen of the
country.
During time he has resided in Costa
Rica he has had the opportunity to
gather a plethora of information
about living and investing here and
is considered to be “the pioneer” in
the field of retirement in not only
Costa Rica and but in all of Central
America. Because of his expertise,
he is a frequent lecturer at
numerous retirement and investment
seminars.
He has also worked as a paid
consultant for National Geographic
Magazine, published articles and
columns in Costa Rica Today
newspaper, Inside Costa Rica
newspaper, AM Costa Rica newspaper,
Costa Rica Outdoors magazine, the
real estate publication Casa Galeria,
the popular website Escape
Artist.com, and for various
newsletters about living and
retiring abroad.
Christopher has an extensive foreign
language background, having earned a
Bachelor of Arts in Latin American
studies, a Master’s degree in
Spanish from the University of
California and also did graduate
studies in Mexico before moving to
Costa Rica.
In addition, he has sold over
300,000 copies and 16 editions of
his bestseller, The New Golden Door
to Retirement and Living in Costa
Rica which is considered by many to
be the ‘bible” for those wanting to
relocate or retire here. His other
books Include the blockbuster, Guide
to Costa Rica Real Estate (2009) and
one-of-a-kind bestseller Official
Guide to Costa Rican Spanish. The
latter has helped 1000s of English
speakers master the nuances of Costa
Rican style-Spanish.
Due to a multitude of requests from
his readers Christopher Howard began
to offer the first relocation and
retirement tours to Costa Rica
starting in 1997. Since then he has
personally helped more than 10,000
people move successfully to country
through his monthly tours, books,
seminars and private consultation
services.
His tours have been featured and
mentioned on the NBC Today Show (you

World Business News and in hundreds
of U.S. and Canadian newspapers. In
2010 his tour was awarded the
prestigious Latin America-Asia
Travel Excellence Award for the most
